Hawaiian Fruit Bowl
Fresh fruit, as in so fresh, it was on the tree or bush a day ago, is a treat whenever we’re in Hawaii. This majestic ensemble came from Saturday’s Hanalei Farmers Market on the north side of Kauai. Depending on the season, you’ll find papaya or mango, pineapple unlike anything you can buy on the mainland, apple bananas, star fruit, and scores of other treats.
And just look at the size of that avocado! Don’t forget the limes to squeeze over papaya halves (the size of footballs) and something exotic, like the hairy dragonfruit. That has the consistency of a custard and makes a terrific dessert, while we mix up the rest of our choices for breakfast.
